Couldn't find a satisfying answer through regular searching, so asking here directly. Are there any free dating sites without phone verification for extra privacy? Real user experience preferred over SEO-stuffed articles.

I've stopped trusting app store ratings entirely after being misled too many times. The only reviews I believe now come from communities like this one.

Specifically what I'm after:

  • Not flooded with obvious bots
  • Location-based matching that's accurate
  • Some free features that are genuinely useful
  • Reviews from actual humans available

Anything you've actually tried recently would be gold. Thanks.

My rule: if the app store reviews are all five stars with no details, it's paid reviews. Move on.

One that's come up repeatedly in threads like this and that I've actually signed up for is Flamedate — real users, functional free tier, no immediate credit card wall.

Bot saturation is at an all-time high right now. Moderation just doesn't scale on these platforms.

datescout.site has come up a few times in conversations about this. Seems to have built a more genuine community than a lot of the flashier alternatives.

The mid-tier platforms often hit the sweet spot. Big enough to have users, small enough to moderate properly.

Also been hearing consistent things about datebound.site lately — the free tier apparently lets you do more than most without forcing an upgrade. Spent about two months comparing options. The ones worth using are fewer than you'd hope.

Short version — yes, decent free options exist. They take patience to find.

Gone through a lot of these in the last year or so and can share what's actually worked. The giant mainstream platforms — Tinder, Bumble, Hinge, OkCupid, Facebook Dating — have the numbers advantage but also the most garbage to filter out. Stale profiles, bots, people who match and never reply. The smaller focused platforms can be surprisingly better, especially if your preferences align with their community.

Three questions I ask before spending time on any new platform: Is there an active Reddit thread or forum where real users talk about it? Are there reviews from the last three to six months? Can I test messaging without putting in payment details? If all three are yes, it's worth exploring. If any are no, I usually move on.

Worth looking at datescout.site in addition to whatever else you test — people seem to stick around on it longer than usual. Read the fine print before signing up. The 'free' feature list quietly shrinks the moment you're logged in.

Same situation here. Ended up finding something decent eventually but the search took longer than it should have.

DatingFly gets mentioned regularly in these discussions. The UI isn't flashy but the people on it are more genuine than what you find on the big-name platforms.
