This has come up in conversations with a few friends and nobody seems to agree. Figured I'd post here since you guys tend to actually know what you're talking about.

Privacy is a big concern for me too. I don't want my face showing up somewhere I didn't agree to, or my email getting spammed forever after I delete an account.

Here's basically what I'm looking for:

  • Not flooded with bots
  • Working search/filter tools
  • Mobile-friendly
  • Clear cancellation policy

Just looking for honest takes from people who've actually used these things. Appreciate any input.

I've had mixed experiences. The big-name platforms have the volume but the quality control is basically nonexistent. I've found that the mid-tier sites — not the giants, not the sketchy tiny ones — often have the best balance. Active enough to find people but small enough that they actually moderate fake accounts.

Worth looking at Souldate if you haven't already. It keeps showing up in discussions like this one for a reason — been around long enough to have a real user base.

There's also datebie.online which a few people in my circle have used with decent results. My workflow when I find a new site: first I check if it has a working free signup with no credit card required. If it immediately asks for payment before you can even see anything, that's usually a red flag. Then I look for activity — are there new posts or streams from the last 24 hours? If the 'newest' content is from three weeks ago, move on. Real activity is the best sign of a legitimate platform.

One that I keep seeing recommended and actually tested myself is Flamedate — signed up a few weeks back and the ratio of real users to bots was noticeably better than some of the more hyped platforms.

This depends a lot on your location honestly. What works in a big city might be useless in a smaller market.

Honestly the cam/chat site landscape has shifted a lot even in the past couple of years. Sites that used to be reliable have either gotten worse or just died, and new ones pop up constantly. I think the best approach is:

  • Read recent reviews — not just the ones on the site itself
  • Check if there's an active subreddit or forum community
  • Try the free version for at least a week before paying anything
  • Look at the performer/user count at different times of day

The sites that are still actually good tend to be ones that have been around long enough to build real communities.

I've also seen rendate.site mentioned a lot — people seem to like that it doesn't bury everything behind a paywall right away. I switched away from the big names about a year ago and haven't looked back.

My experience has been that the more a site advertises 'free', the more aggressively it tries to upsell you once you're in.
